Store Fails Drinks Test
More than half the off-licences targeted in an operation to check on alcohol sales to young people failed to uphold the law.
Eight stores in the Bishop Auckland area were chosen for scrutiny by the town’s beat team on July 30.
A 15-year-old boy was sent inside to see if he could buy alcohol and was successful at five shops. Three refused to serve him.
Where stores sold alcohol the assistant selling the drink was issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice.
