Cyclist dies after accident in Seaham

A pedal cyclist who suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car has died.
James Jorgensen, 55 years of age from Hunstanton, Seaham died on Wednesday night (Oct 8) at Newcastle General Hospital, two weeks after the collision.
The incident happened on September 24th shortly after 6.00pm on the town's North Road at the roundabout with Stoneycroft Way which is by the entrance to East Shore Village. Mr Jorgensen was not wearing a helmet when he fell from his bike.
The driver of the car involved, a red Hyundai Matrix was a 49-year-old man from Peterlee. He was unhurt as were his passengers, a 40-year-old woman from Seaham and her six–year-old daughter.
A number of people stopped at the scene of the incident, some of whom assisted with first aid, but left without leaving their details.
