Plea after vandals leave trail of damage
19th July, 2010
Police in Durham City are appealing for information after vandals in Brandon left a trail of paint-damaged property in their wake.
The home of an elderly woman was targeted overnight on Saturday. The door of her bungalow in Willow Close, Brandon, had white gloss paint and woodstain thrown over it.
The back door of a bungalow in White Cedars was also daubed with paint as well as a Hyundai car in Briar Avenue and a fast-food trailer in Grove Road. A number of discarded paint tins have been recovered.
PC Dave Taylor said: "The occupant of the paint-damaged bungalow in Willow Close is a lady in her 70s and the incident has left her in a very distressed state. Whoever was responsible for the attack on her property has also left a trail of damage elsewhere."
He added that it was believed the damage to the property in Willow Close occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning and enquiries suggested it may have been at around 12.30am.
Police have recovered a black and grey hooded jacket with paint on it. It bears the Carbrini brand name and has a 12 to 13 years size label in it.
PC Taylor said: "I would appeal to anyone who has any information about these incidents whatsoever to contact us."
