29th June, 2010

Police, fire and rescue and the ambulance service were alerted at 2.45am by a passer-by who saw the man climb to the top of the scaffolding outside Lloyds Bank in Skinnergate, Darlington.
The man was clinging to the outside of the scaffolding and threatening to commit suicide.
The area around the bank was cordoned off as police negotiators were called in.
Acting Sgt Daryl Edmunds began talking to the man who eventually agreed to come down just before 4am.
He was brought to the ground in a fire service platform ladder.
The man, 20, from Darlington, was checked over by paramedics and found to be cold but OK.
He was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital but later released after being diagnosed mentally fit.
