South Area Local Policing Pledge
Safer Neighbourhoods is about local police, partners and the community working together, to identify and tackle issues of concern.
Our Pledge to you:
We will:
- Hold monthly meeting within your area to identify local priorities. The meetings will be held within the community and will be advertised using local contact points and the media.
- Listen and talk to you to find out what affects your daily life and feelings of security
- Agree with you priorities for your area and take action to tackle them.
- Provide you with the name of your local police officer/Police Community Support Officer and details of how to contact them.
- Provide monthly updates on crime and policing issues on our website.

The South Area Policing Team remains committed to working with our partners and communities to ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe. The policing pledge is our promise to you that our level of service will continue to be of a high standard. Delivery of the pledge will be through consultation, sharing information and agreeing a course of action.

We aim to:
- Through the monthly meetings work with you to resolve problems and priorities to your satisfaction.
- Work with you to ensure we deploy our resources correctly to meet those local priorities and issues
- Respond to emergencies immediately giving you a timescale for arrival, which will ensure we get to you safely and as quickly as possible
- Attend (when needed) any incident relating to a priority or if you are vulnerable or upset within 60 minutes.
- If you are not satisfied with the service you have received to work with you to resolve your concerns
What can you expect?
- A locally known and recognisable Police Officer or Police Community Support Officer.
- Local issues to be tackled jointly by us, partner agencies and yourselves using a problem solving approach.
- More chance to meet with us to air your views.
- To be kept updated on what we are doing so we are accountable to you through good engagement and effective communication.
- We will take action against those committing offences and will update you with the results of the investigation.

What can you do?
You can help us improve your neighbourhood by volunteering some of your time as a Community Volunteer, as a Special Police Constable, by joining a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme or by attending and participating in the Partnership and Community Together (PACT) meetings.
