Operation Hawkeye

Operation Hawkeye is an ongoing operation in the Crook and Dales area aimed at preventing crime by identifying vulnerable vehicles. Whilst on high visibility patrols PCSOs and police officers identify vehicles where items have been left on display and bring this to the attention of the owner by way of letter posted to the home address. The PCSOs have had a great success so far and have potentially prevented a number of thefts of satellite navigation systems and associated equipment.

Operation Eagle Eye

Identifying and warning people about shed burglaries when high risk items are left in out buildings.

Operation Wellburg

Operation Wellburg is aimed at identifying those responsible for vehicle crime. It involves overt and covert tactics. This is currently ongoing and hence specific details cannot yet be published.

A male was arrested for multiple damages to vehicles in the Hunwick area. He admitted the offences and therefore was dealt with by way of conditional caution which ensures the victims are compensated.

Vehicle Nuisance

In an attempt to reduce incidents related to the illegal use of mini motos and other types of motorcycle, educational leaflets were delivered to homes in the Willington and Howden Le Wear areas. Patrols by Headquarters motor cycle section and local PCSOs led to the issue of a number of warning notices and also the seizure of bikes. Likewise, a number of warning notices have been issued and vehicles seized in the Tow Law area.

Pubwatch

There is a very effective pub watch and barring scheme running in the area with the assistance from the police and the council which has also cut down on drink related problems. The licensed premises in the Crook area also benefit from a Pub Watch radio scheme in the area which is administrated by the police.

Community Visibility

In order to improve police visibility and public reassurance the PCSOs in both the Crook and Dales areas are making use of bikes to get around their beat area. This has received positive attention from the local media. You may also see the PCSOs using local public transport and the school bus!
