Local Initiatives
Anti social behaviour and street drinking
Working with Easington District Council and the Community Safety Partnership, police officers, PCSOs and street wardens are actively engaging with young people across our area in an effort to reduce incidents of anti social behaviour. Misuse of alcohol is proactively targeted and enforcement action taken against those responsible for it's supply, distribution and consumption along with referrals to support agencies for those at risk .
Inconsiderate parking
PCSO's are distributing warning notices to offending drivers and where persistent problems arise enforcement action is taken. Working in conjunction with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority numerous unlicensed vehicles have been removed from our roads and penalties issued to offending owners

Deneside Criminal Damage Action Plan
In 2007-2008 the issues of criminal damage, anti social behaviour and deliberate secondary fires became obvious in the Deneside area of Seaham.
As a result the police and our partners joined forces to combat this problem together. This was done through the deneside criminal damage action plan. This was an agreement drawn up by all the agencies involved to solve these quality of life issues for our residents.
Easington Crime Action Plan
Again in 2007-2008 it was highlighted that the Easington Colliery area was suffering from increased levels of criminal damage offences, anti social behaviour incidents and deliberate secondary fires. Other issues were experienced such as burglaries and vehicle crime.
Partnership activity in the latter part of the year such as securing void properties and enforcement against suspected offenders resulted in a reduction in these crime categories.
Example of activities included on these action plans are:
- Recording of criminal damage to residential properties
- Street warden & PCSO patrols
- Crime pattern analysis
- Operation Leon
- Improved reporting, data collection and recording for ASB
- Warning letter system for youths involved in ASB
- Static and mobile CCTV and police head cameras
- Environmental works
- Graffiti removal service
- Dog control/fouling/welfare
- Community fire safety patrols
- Test purchasing re alcohol sales
- Youth outreach & diversionary activities
