Durham Constabulary

North Area - Consett

Neighbourhood Profile

Consett

Consett neighbourhood policing team covers a large geographical area made up of thirteen council wards, with a mixture of some densely populated areas such as Leadgate, Delves Lane and Blackhill and some very rural communities, such as Castleside, Cornsay and Burnhope. The area extends from Hamsterley Mill in the North to Langley Park in the South, Holmside in the East to Waskerley and Muggleswick in the West.

The area is a relatively low crime area but criminal damages pose the greatest problem. Consett town centre has a booming night time economy which contributes greatly to trade in the area, but can lead to problems with anti social behaviour and disorder. Positive and proactive policing have reduced the numbers of incidents over recent times.

Your Neighbourhood Inspector

Your Neighbourhood Inspector My name is Dave Turner and I am the neighbourhood Inspector for the Consett area. I have responsibility for all matters in the area, with direct management of the neighbourhood policing teams and the requirement to represent Consett Police at a variety of partnership groups. My focus is on working together with the community and partner organisations to make Consett a safer, more secure and confident community. Being based at the main police station at Consett I am accessible to members of the community to discuss matters in our neighbourhood.
