About Durham Police Authority
It is the job of Durham Police Authority to ensure the people of County Durham and Darlington are provided with an efficient and effective police force.
The Police Authority sets the force budget and ensures that all police buildings are in a good state of repair and fit for purpose.
It is chaired by Mr Peter Thompson and comprises 17 members, of whom nine are elected councillors and eight are independently-appointed.
Durham Police Authority is committed to listening and responding to the needs of local people and working with communities to set local policing priorities which the police are responsible for delivering.
