H.Q. C.I.D.  Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Scott

Det. Chief Supt. Scott has been the Head of C.I.D. for 8 years. He has operated in the Detective ranks at all levels throughout his service and has worked within the former Regional Crime Squad in Teesside. Throughout his lengthy investigative career he has led over 20 Murder enquiries in Durham and he has also been utilised to assist other Forces in sensitive investigations requiring both independence and advice. He is a National lead on matters concerning facial  dentification and is an active member of the National A.C.P.O. Homicide working group.

Communications - Superintendent John Bell

John joined Durham Constabulary in 1983 and from then until 2000 worked mainly within the response policing function as a constable, sergeant and Inspector. During this period he also worked within P.S.L.S. and H.Q. C.I.D. In 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector and led for the organisation on the Human Rights project. Following a posting to Personnel John led the project to centralise communications. From 2004 to 2007 he was part of the North Area command team. John has been head of Communications since September 2007.

Personnel & Development Department, Information Department - Chief Superintendent Ian Macdonald

Ian Macdonald joined Durham Constabulary in November 1982. He has served in a variety of uniform and non-uniform posts both in the areas and at headquarters. He took up his current post as the head of the Information Department in November 2007. In this role that was newly created to meet the demands of managing amongst other things the Management of Police Information (M.O.P.I.) he is responsible for a broad portfolio of information management issues.

Business Services - Roy Moor

Roy has over 30 years experience working in Public Sector Business Administration with a variety of Organisations including; Durham and Cleveland County Councils, Cleveland Fire Brigade and Durham Constabulary.

He has subsequently developed a broad background in managing many aspects of business administration including; finance, procurement, training, vehicle fleet and general office services. As head of Business Services Roy is responsible for the effective management of Procurement, Fleet and Central Administration functions as well the development of risk and business continuity management for the force.

Professional Standards and Legal Services - Superintendent Bruce Turnbull

Detective Superintendent Turnbull has enjoyed a varied career in the organisation. His early uniformed career saw him serve as a beat officer in Seaham Harbour, Easington and Haswell. As a supervisor he has held both Uniform and C.I.D. roles across the whole force area, latterly as Detective Chief Inspector in Wear and Tees, T/Superintendent Operations Manager in the South Area and both D.C.I. and D/Supt. in Professional Standards. His specialist areas during his development have seen him operate in Traffic, Firearms, Public Order, C.I.D. and Criminal Justice.  As Head of Professional Standards and Legal Services Department, he is charged with maintaining the Standards of Professional Behaviour of the organisation.

I graduated in 1989 and qualified as a general practice Chartered Surveyor in 1995.  On leaving university I worked in private practice for a short time before joining Gateshead Council where I dealt with the management of Northumbria Police Authority's estate.  I am currently responsible for the strategic management, maintenance and development of Durham Police Authority's estate.
