Summer Nights
Operation Summer Nights aims to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour during July and August. It particularly focuses on those actions that often result from people drinking too much alcohol and seeks to let people know that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable in County Durham. It also builds on the positive work and behaviour of most young people, encouraging everyone to make respecting themselves and others a greater consideration. The partnership includes many public service agencies which have joined forces to take every opportunity to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour and increase community reassurance.
Operation Darc
A seasonal offensive, designed to reduce house burglaries as the dark nights begin. The intention is to combat potential burglars by using a variety of measures. These include crime prevention roadshows, Neighbourhood Watch volunteers to carry out leaflet drops giving suitable advice; and handing out timers and energy saving lightbulbs, which should encourage householders to keep a light on if they are out to give burglars the impression the property is occupied. Scores of letters will are sent to convicted burglars about to be released from prison, warning them of the consequences if they return to a life of crime.
Streetsafe

Streetsafe
StreetSafe and reassurance is about delivering a quality product from the first point of contact.
Presence in the Community
By working effectively with the extended police family we will maintain high levels of visibility involving our communities in identifying and solving problems, giving them a voice in and access to policing services, in the knowledge they will be listened to and dealt with professionally.
Environmental and Physical Factors
With our partners we will tackle those crimes, incidents and disorders that, when seen or experienced may act as a warning about the level of security of individuals or communities.
Effective Response
We will deal with people in a courteous, honest, empathetic and professional manner ensuring that they are kept updated and informed of the results of our actions.
Communication and Public Engagement
Working with our partners we will engage with the community consulting at every level, listening to what people say, responding to their problems, creating real opportunity for the public to influence our delivery of service. We will enhance our internal communications promoting our objectives in relation to public reassurance.
NightSafe

NightSafe
The aim of this campaign, which is in line with the force's 'StreetSafe' initiative, is to reduce anti-social behaviour and alcohol-fuelled violence thereby improving the quality of life for people in the town centres. Coupled with this we want to ensure those people consuming alcohol in licensed premises can do so in a safe, pleasant environment.
Farmwatch
It is a partnership between the farming community and the police to encourage vigilance and communication. Intelligence is a vital tool in crime reduction and members of the public can assist by providing information no matter how trivial it may seem. If a pattern arises as a result of the information received we can then act upon this and address the issue. By communicating with each other we can help to prevent many crimes from happening in the first place, thus making the community a safer and more crime free area.
