I.C.T. Department

The I.C.T. is a Support Department, based at Headquarters, which provides a full range of I.C.T services including strategic planning; project management; software development; and maintenance plus the provision and maintenance of computer systems, telephony, radio and C.C.T.V systems. The ICT Service is supplied via a mix of in-house and contractor provision.

Northumbia and Sunderland Universities

I.T. Branch currently offers four student placement opportunities (one in each of the following areas; Network Support, Web Admin, Development Team and Infrastructure. Current placement students working on one year industrial placements are from Sunderland and Northumbria Universities. Building on this successful partnership in the next academic year there will be further placements available

The I.C.T. Project Support Section

The I.C.T. Projects Team comprises one project support officer.


Telephone Network Section

The Telephone Network Section consists of a Telephone Network Manager and six staff. The section provides day to day management and support for the Constabulary's telephony system and wide area integrated voice and data network.


Communications Maintenance Unit

The Communications Maintenance unit has a staff of six led by the Radio Network Manager. The unit provides support for the Airwave radio system and Communication Control Systems. It also provides maintenance and installation services for radio, C.C.T.V. and computer hardware. The key systems are supported on a 24 hour by seven days a week basis.

 

 

 

 

 


Technical Support Unit

The Technical Support Unit consists of seven staff and its role is to provide technical support to officers in the gathering of intelligence and evidence of criminal activity.
